DATALAND, the Museum of AI Arts, officially opened to the public earlier this month at The Grand LA in downtown Los Angeles. The venue has partnered with L-Acoustics to create an immersive aural environment for the inaugural exhibition, Machine Dreams: Rainforest, developed by Refik Anadol Studio. This collaboration marks the first U.S. installation of L-Acoustics' Ambiance active acoustics platform, which is central to the sonic approach of the exhibition.

The exhibition, which runs through January 31, 2027, spans five galleries and presents art that is a living work, evolving in real time through the interplay of data, computation, and human presence. Visitors interact directly with artworks that respond to them, using biometric data from wearable devices. The immersive experience is supported by an L-ISA Hyperreal Immersive spatial system and, for the first time in the Americas, the Ambiance hybrid active acoustic enhancement platform, installed by Certified Partner Solotech.

DATALAND is an omni-sensory AI arts museum designed to activate all five human senses. The museum's mission is to define art for the age of machine intelligence, where art is no longer a finished object but a dynamic, evolving entity. The exhibition showcases the work of Refik Anadol Studio's collective of artists, scientists, architects, and engineers, highlighting the intersection of AI, art, and human interaction.

What This Means for AV Integrators

The integration of advanced audio systems like L-Acoustics' Ambiance platform and L-ISA Hyperreal spatial system sets a new benchmark for immersive audio experiences. AV integrators must now consider hybrid active acoustic solutions and real-time data interaction in their projects, especially for omni-sensory installations that blend AI with physical environments.
