Aurora Multimedia has introduced the VPX-TC1-UCP, a 4K AV-over-IP transceiver that is far more than a signal transport device. Built around Aurora's proprietary Mimix™ compression engine, the VPX-TC1-UCP delivers 4K60 4:4:4 video with sub-frame latency (1.78ms) over a standard 1 Gigabit Ethernet infrastructure — the same network already deployed in virtually every enterprise and education facility.

What sets the VPX-TC1-UCP apart from competing endpoints is its integrated power distribution architecture. The unit supports PoE++ delivery of up to 60W via USB-C, enabling it to charge connected laptops directly from the network switch — no separate power bricks or docking stations required. An optional 240W adapter unlocks 100W of charging per USB-C port, capable of powering demanding workstations or high-speed peripherals. A second USB-C port simultaneously provides 15W to a secondary device or an RJ-45 PSE output, making the VPX-TC1-UCP a true one-cable desktop solution for conference rooms, executive suites, and education lab stations.

Dante/AES67 Audio Integration

The VPX-TC1-UCP natively bridges audio into Dante® and AES67 networks, allowing integrators to de-embed audio locally or route it across the network to any Dante-enabled DSP, amplifier, or speaker system. In installations where Biamp Tesira, QSC Q-SYS, or Shure IntelliMix Room systems are already deployed, this built-in bridge eliminates the need for a separate audio bridge device — simplifying rack design and reducing BOM cost.

The unit operates as either a transmitter (switching between two HDMI and two USB-C inputs) or a receiver (switching between local HDMI and IP streams), with seamless, zero-black-frame source switching. High-speed USB data at 270Mbps supports full HD conference cameras and large file transfers, with fully routable USB ports configurable as host or device for flexible workflow adaptation.

Target Applications

Aurora positions the VPX-TC1-UCP as the ideal solution for modern executive suites (where cable clutter is a recurring client complaint), higher education lab stations (where instructors need simultaneous laptop charging and content distribution), and huddle spaces (where the all-in-one form factor eliminates the need for three separate devices). The Mimix™ engine ensures that even complex CAD visualizations and high-motion video maintain near-uncompressed fidelity over the existing 1G infrastructure — a critical differentiator in technical verticals like engineering, healthcare, and broadcast post-production.

What This Means for AV Integrators

The VPX-TC1-UCP gives integrators a compelling consolidation story: one SKU replaces a laptop dock, a power delivery adapter, a Dante audio bridge, and an AV-over-IP transceiver — simplifying design, reducing truck roll risk, and lowering the client's per-seat cost. For integrators managing Aurora IPEX or SDVoE deployments, this endpoint extends the platform's reach into USB-C-forward environments and opens conversations about upgrading legacy HDMI endpoint installations to a fully networked, power-integrated architecture.
